Loss and Research

Louise Bourgeois died on Monday, at the age of 98. This made me so sad to think of an artist dying that has so profoundly inspired my work. I remember seeing a book of some of her work for the first time in Perkins Library. I went back to that book multiple times throughout college. I loved the genitalia and sex in her work. I remember a picture of her as an old lady, posing with a huge phallus. hilarious.

So now, I'm researching more into embroidery - I'm trying to learn everything that I can, and I'm checking out books like crazy. You should see my couch. Mounds of books. No coffee table in view. I'm so excited to researching and reading again. I feel useful, like my brain is useful.
